Artist Statement

I feel fortunate to have discovered my passion for art early in life. My creative interests led first to art school and eventually to a career in illustration and graphic design. In 2012, I rediscovered my love of watercolor and began showing my work.

My early inspiration came from close to home as many of my paintings depict my sons and their friends as they grew from children into young adults. Over time, my focus has expanded to include the river towns near where I live, as well as the dynamic urban landscapes of New York City and Philadelphia. I continue to find endless inspiration in the diversity of the world around me.

I work in both full color and black and white, focusing on genre scenes that capture everyday life. My paintings explore themes of connection, memory, and community, often drawn from real-life observations and human interaction. I paint on both paper and Aquabord, using the unique qualities of each surface to support the emotional tone of the scene.

I’m especially drawn to portraits and moments that tell a story. Whether it’s a fleeting glance, a shared moment, or a solitary gesture, I aim to reveal the emotional texture of ordinary life. Through my work, I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation of the people around us and to celebrate each person’s individuality.

It has been an honor to exhibit my work across the United States, and I’m always grateful when a painting is selected for a show or recognized with an award. Each experience continues to motivate and inspire me on my creative journey.
